Lazarus Chanda grew up on Chilubi Island in Lake Bangweulu, one of Zambia's most remote regions. The path from that island to ordained ministry was not straightforward, but God used TSE to open a door he could not have opened on his own.

A pastor who attended a TSE block class introduced Lazarus to CABU. With continued training and a scholarship, he enrolled, was discipled through Kitwe Church, and completed a pastoral internship. In August 2025, Lazarus and his wife Phoebe, along with their three little sons, were sent to Kasama, Zambia, where they are now planting a gospel-centered church.

Kasama is also a future TSE training site, and Lord willing, the work Lazarus began as a student will one day multiply through the next generation of pastors he helps train.
