Serving in Luapula, Zambia
Bachelor of Arts in Bible, Missions Emphasis (2021)
Chaplaincy in Ministry Certificate (2019)
Sign Language and Deaf Studies Certificate (2020)
Hon. Kapui Matakala first joined CABU in 2017 for a chaplaincy block course while serving as a Zambia Police chaplain. Compelled by a desire to deepen his biblical understanding and better serve the Deaf community, he went on to pursue a Certificate in Sign Language and Deaf Studies, as well as a Bible degree, graduating in 2021.
Reflecting on his years at CABU, Kapui credits the university with shaping him into a servant leader, one who understands that leadership is rooted in humility and service, not status.
"The institution does not merely train the mind; it transforms the heart," he says. "Every course, chapel service, and mentorship session was intentionally designed to build character, strengthen integrity, and cultivate a passion for God's mission."
He left convinced that leadership is stewardship, a sacred trust to serve others faithfully, lessons he continues to carry into his ministry today.
Kapui is a recognized chaplain deployed out of the Luapula Division, serving as part of the Zambia Police Service's Chaplaincy Unit. He is notable as a trained sign-language speaker, ministering to the local Deaf community and bridging communication barriers when reporting crimes.
